Wrestling, Redemption, and the Nations: How Jacob's Story shapes Israel, connects us to Jesus today!

Dec 7, 2025    Worship Leader Peter Perez III

In this study, we explore how the conflict between Jacob and Esau didn’t end in Genesis, it runs through the entire Bible and into our world today. From Obadiah 1, where God judges Edom for its violence and betrayal against Israel, to Matthew 2, where Herod, an Edomite and descendant of Esau, tries to kill the newborn Messiah, we see the same spiritual hostility rising again and again.

This is what Scripture reveals as the spirit of Esau, a posture of jealousy, rebellion, and hatred toward God’s covenant people. And it still exists today, showing up not only among Israel’s enemies but even within parts of Christianity through replacement theology and growing hostility toward the Jewish people.

But the story doesn’t end there: Yeshua, the true King of Israel, is returning, and He will judge every expression of this spirit and restore His people. This study helps us understand the ancient conflict, recognize its modern forms, and stand with God’s heart for Israel in these last days.
